And we found one...
Luckily I wasn't the only one taking pics today(my photographer skills lacked thanks to my baby monster today!) Here is a pic that includes Anthony Joseph! (Thanks Meridith for sending it!)
Summ-Summ Summertime
Merry Merry times at Meridiths
As we come to an end of summer 2007, we enjoy the last tastes of summ--summ summertime! The group gathered today at Meridith and Penelope's home in Newtown.(we missed Kerri and Ashley) As always...a fantastic spread kept all of our bellies full of delight! Julia travled the room to try to find any and all fake and real phones she could talk into. Melody showed off her new skill of being a WALKER! Penelope, (besides being the hostess with the mostess), showed off her signing her manners! Anthony Joseph was a kind friend and gave up his chewed carrot to Rylan. Rylan was a monster. I can say that because I am his mother...but you know if you were there you were thinking it too! UGH...he screamed and nothing pleased him except for some time in the POOL! Speaking of pool...Penelope is A FISH. She can be dunked, slapshed, and poured on and that kid is still smiling. Julia and Rylan both took accidential dunks and didn't CRY! Eventhough my boy was a monster 90% of the day...he did walk about 6-7 steps in the pool and was excited about it!
Next week we host at our crib! Hopefully the weather will still be warm and we can still use our pool for a last hurrah!

Check out the MOMMA'S
Moms Night Out Take 2 RECAP
It was a lovely summer night to have an outdoor seat at Putnam house (they ounce again hooked us up!). We all enjoyed our appetizers, and drinks. It was such a great showing that we had 10 people around the large tables, which made it hard to speak to everyone, but great to see some familiar faces we haven't seen in awhile. Nobody danced on the table, or fell over when we got up to leave, which made us all come to the conclusion...those days have indeed passed. We actually stayed out until 11 (even though some of us were yawning well before that!). We all look forward to the next Mom's Night Out gathering which will probably happen in the Fall! We hope that faces we haven't seen in a long time can make it next time, and the regulars...of course will be there!

Rainy Day thoughts
"CHHHHEEEEESEEE"

"Back up little ones...I'll show you how it is done"

"Hey Rylan you want this?...to bad I got it"

"I learned this from watching my mommy!"

"If I poke her maybe she will wake up!"

"we are at play...please make the paparazzi back off"

"I am not sure who is more grouchy...the guy on my shirt or ME"

"I am so happy I didn't miss group today!"

Childrens play on a rainy day
This Tuesday was Kerri's turn to host! She hosted all of us wet cats that came in from the raining cats and dogs day! We missed Pam and Bianca this week because they were on a job for Kerri. But Melody did not miss the group (kerri was babysitting)! I think we were all happy to be together since we missed last week. It has become clear that we all look forward to our weekly gathering for our adult interaction and a love for watching our kids intermingle. Kerri was kind enough to let me bring my niece to group who was visiting in town for a few days while her parents are on a mini-child free-vk. Ava was excited to be the oldest kid in the crowd (she is 2 1/2) but soon got tired from all the playing and conked out on Kerri's couch. Rylan took a mini nap in Ashley's crib and was just like his shirt...grouchy! Julia had a few time outs with her mom in the hallway and continued to accidentally walk into the corner of the dining room table! Penelope tried to escape a few times to try and get into some trouble...but her mom knew what was up when Penelope stopped to look back to see if her mom was watching. Ashley was a fantastic host and let her friends borrow all of her toys, and often gave me a few books to read to her (she must of known the teacher in the bunch!), and Melody enjoyed her sleep, snacks, and friends. Next week we are off to see Meridith and Penelope!

New grads! and our larger events!
As the summer approaches an end..a few of our friends from our "baby" mom's group are graduating (meaning they are turning or have turned 1!). So if you notice some new faces on the blog it is from our larger events that are planned to include all of our friends. We all wish we lived in huge homes that could house the entire old crew, but sadly we can't. We started this site with mainly the May/June babies that get together on a weekly basis, and hope that we encourage other mom's with babies born in other months that graduate to gather up and do the same. Having a weekly event helps keeps us all sane :-)
In the meantime we hope to keep up the larger events so we can continue to see all of the babies and moms we have grown to know over the year! Next large event is this Friday...Mom's NIGHT OUT! (we are excited)
Keep an eye out for fun photos of this event, and other events that include current cutie grads!

What do you do all day?
This was a cute forward sent to me from a fellow at home mom, Susanne, that lives in MA with her two sons and hubby! It put a smile on my face and thought you would all enjoy it too!
A man came home from work and found his three children outside,
still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and
wrappers strewn all around the front yard.
The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to
the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he
found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was
wadded against one wall.
In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a Cartoon channel, and the
family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.
In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was
spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on
the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was
spread by the back door.
He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more
piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill,
or that something serious had happened.
He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out
the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and
more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and
toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.
As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up
in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and
asked how his day went.
He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here
today?"
She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come
home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?"
"Yes," was his incredulous reply.
She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."

LEAD PAINT IN EVERYTHING...grrrr
So it is apparent that China wants to poison our children..LOL (just kidding people!)...but doesn't it seem like everything lately seems to be recalled for lead paint?....Who the heck still uses lead pain anymore? At this point we will be sending everything our kids own back!
This time...like the ol' saying "don't drink the water"...it is"Don't chew on the bib".....YIKES.
So if you have this bib and your kid seems sleepy after they chewed on it a bit(just trying to make light of the situation)...it is time to retire the item

Who is the expert on parenting?
Here is a forward that Pam sent to our group that made us all weep and reflect!
"On Being Mom" by Anna Quindlen
If not for the photographs, I might have a hard time believing they ever existed. The pensive infant with the swipe of dark bangs and the blackbutton eyes of a Raggedy Andy doll. The placid baby with the yellow ringlets and the high piping voice. The sturdy toddler with the lower lip that curled into an apostrophe above her chin. ALL MY BABIES are gone now.
I say this not in sorrow but in disbelief. I take great satisfaction in what I have today: three almost-adults, two taller than I am, one closing in fast. Three people who read the same books I do and have learned not to be afraid of disagreeing with me in their opinion of them, who sometimes tell vulgar jokes that make me laugh until I choke and cry, who need razor blades and shower gel and privacy, who want to keep their doors closed more than I like.
Who, miraculously, go to the bathroom, zip up their jackets and move food from plate to mouth all by themselves. Like the trick soap I bought for the bathroom with a rubber ducky at its center, the baby is buried deep within each, barely discernible except through the unreliable haze of the past.
Everything in all the books I once pored over is finished for me now. Penelope Leach., T. Berry Brazelton., Dr. Spock. The ones on sibling rivalry and sleeping through the night and early-childhood education, all grown obsolete.
Along with "Goodnight Moon" and "Where the Wild Things Are," they are battered, spotted, well used. But I suspect that if you flipped the pages dust would rise like memories. What those books taught me, finally, and what the women on the playground taught me, and the well-meaning relations -- what they taught me was that they couldn't really teach me very much at all. Raising children is presented at first as a true-false test, then becomes multiple choice, until finally, far along, you realize that it is an endless essay. No one knows anything. One child responds well to positive reinforcement, another can be managed only with a stern voice and a timeout. One boy is toilet trained at 3, his brother at 2.
When my first child was born, parents were told to put baby to bed on his belly so that he would not choke on his own spit-up. By the time my last arrived, babies were put down on their backs because of research on sudden infant death syndrome. To a new parent this ever-shifting certainty is terrifying, and then soothing.
Eventually you must learn to trust yourself. Eventually the research will follow.
I remember 15 years ago poring over one of Dr.Brazelton's wonderful books on child development, in which he describes three different sorts of infants: average, quiet, and active. I was looking for a sub-quiet codicil for an 18-month-old who did not walk. Was there something wrong with his fat little legs? Was there something wrong with his tiny little mind? Was he developmentally delayed, physically challenged? Was I insane? Last year he went to China. Next year he goes to college. He can talk just fine. He can walk, too.
Every part of raising children is humbling, too. Believe me, mistakes were made. They have all been enshrined in the "Remember-When-Mom-Did" Hall of Fame The outbursts, the temper tantrums, the bad language, mine, not theirs. The times the baby fell off the bed. The times I arrived late for preschool pickup. The nightmare sleepover. The horrible summer camp. The day when the youngest came barreling out of the classroom with a 98 on her geography test, and I responded, What did you get wrong? (She insisted I include that.) The time I ordered food at the McDonald's drive-through speaker and then drove away without picking it up from the window. (They all insisted I include that.) I did not allow them to watch the Simpsons for the first two seasons. What was I thinking?
But the biggest mistake I made is the one that most of us make while doing this. I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of the three of them sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages 6, 4 and 1. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less.
Even today I'm not sure what worked and what didn't, what was me and what was simply life. When they were very small, I suppose I thought someday they would become who they were because of what I'd done. Now I suspect they simply grew into their true selves because they demanded in a thousand ways that I back off and let them be.
The books said to be relaxed and I was often tense, matter-of-fact and I was sometimes over the top. And look how it all turned out. I wound up with the three people I like best in the world, who have done more than anyone to excavate my essential humanity. That's what the books never told me. I was bound and determined to learn from the experts.
It just took me a while to figure out who the experts were.

Loven the Lake
Whats better than Krispy Kreme?

Our hosts(Emily and Julia seen above)treated us well! Emily gave us a fantastic spread of Krispy Kreme's and fresh Mozerella which both wowed the crowd! It was an extra sweaty-sticky day so central air was a great treat for those of us without it! Julia took back her crownand tucked away her little devilish horns and did not bully or pull anyones hair! YEY for Julia! She also greeted us in a very beautiful summer dress.
It was a nice low key day without too much kid drama (minus my own at the end!). Penelope checked out if anyone was looking at her while blowing kisses (and of course she got all of our attention!), Ashley seeked out any snack she could find (minus anything that wasn't a carb according to her mom), Melody shared various things with the adults although she was cautious about sharing with the kids (she did try!), Rylan was obsessed with Emily's central air vents and also decided to try to play with her plugs (thats by boy---finds everything he is NOT supposed to do in EVERY home!), and Anthony Joseph came to say Hi later on that day but we had to leave because Rylan needed a NAP ---BAD!
Over all it was a great day! We are skipping next week because 2 of us will be working for Kerri, and the others have stuff going on...so we will be back in action Aug. 21 at Kerri's house!

Pigtails, bullies, and sweet sweet cookies
Hello to all blog readers! I made it safe and sound back from vacation! A few avid readers have asked me what is keeping me back from my consistent posts...SORRY. I have been MIA!
This week Moms group was hosted by the host with the mostest baking skills EVA (said with my RI accent)...Pam...or as we like to call her Pamcakes! She put a hefty spread which included luscious chocolate kiss cookies which we all inhaled! Being around her makes us add ten pounds! :-) (seriously that girl can BAKE)
So the group found out there are topics in which we discuss that are not appropriate for advertising on our blog. Those shall remain nameless and kept secret to those that shared in the conversation of it all. Sorry bloogers...you had to be there! I am sure those that were are giggling and thinking about it!
This week we had two pretty ladies with pigtails in the group. Melody and Penelope sported there "I am tooooo cute for words" pigtails (see pics for a feel for the cuteness!). Rylan was a whinny whiner (I can say this since he is my OWN!)...so every time any of the ladies (particularly Penelope) yelped out a high pitch of glee Rylan screamed. (disclaimer for my child: he IS teething and not getting his well needed sleep--sorry everyone for his moodiness!). Julia found it funny to pull Rylan's hair and bully her friends here and there which mortified her poor mom. Don't worry Emily they will all have their day and we will all be mortified...it is part of the course! :-)At least Julia will be able to hold her own at a young age...while smiling with the sweetest most Innocent smile EVER!(see pics for a feel of her halo!)
Other mom topics of the day: It was my 2 year anniversary to my hubby Pete, which led us all down memory road about our wedding day. (Women LOVE to talk about that topic!), and the 2nd fav topic we always seem to get too is CHILDBIRTH! (another well favored women topic of choice!). We all compared and chatted about hairdressers in the area, which Emily raved about hers and I happen to try out (I gotta say it is an AWESOME cut and I might have to change hairdressers for good! THANKS EMILY!).
Other topics of interest...we are all hoping selfishly that the Perrone family DOES NOT move to NY for the state troopers...we want to keep Bianca and Anthony Joseph all to ourselves. Pam is off to a long weekend trip to Virgina this weekend (safe travels), Kerri has been kind enough to give some of us some employment opportunities which is great for all of us at home moms, and Emily informed us she heard her -baby in the belly-heartbeat recently!:-)
Next week we are heading over to Emily and Julia's! (I better cut Rylan's hair before that!---KIDDING EMILY!!! :-) )
